AdSpector Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the AdSpector — Attention Analyzer browser extension (“AdSpector”, the “Extension”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. AdSpector is published by Viomba Oy (“Viomba”), Kaikukatu 2C, 00530 Helsinki, Finland (Business ID FI26138008).
AdSpector lets you analyze the attention and ad-placement layout of a web page you are viewing. Analysis runs only when you explicitly trigger it, and results are saved to your Viomba account.
1. Summary
- AdSpector only collects page data when you actively run an analysis on the current tab — it does not monitor or log your browsing in the background.
- When you run an analysis, it sends the current page’s URL, its on-page layout data, and a single screenshot of the current viewport to Viomba’s backend service for processing.
- We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
- You sign in through Viomba ID, and your analyses are stored under your Viomba account.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Page content you choose to analyze
When you run an analysis on the active tab, AdSpector collects:
- The page URL of the tab you are analyzing.
- Page layout data — the positions, dimensions, and structural information of on-page elements and ad placements (for example, bounding rectangles, viewport size, and scroll position). This may incidentally include text or markup that is part of those elements.
- A screenshot of the current viewport — a single image (JPEG) of what is visible on screen at the moment of capture. AdSpector deliberately captures only the current viewport, not a full-page or stitched capture.
- Analysis options you select (for example, target market/country or device emulation settings).
2.2 Account & authentication data
- Authentication tokens issued when you sign in through Viomba ID (id.viomba.com) via the browser’s secure sign-in flow. The token is stored locally in the Extension’s storage so you stay signed in.
- Account identity — basic profile information associated with your Viomba account (such as your name, email, and the account/sub-account you select).
- Usage and credit information tied to your account, so we can show your balance and history. These “credits” are prepaid usage units for the analysis service — they are not consumer credit or creditworthiness data. The Extension does not handle any payment, card, or transaction data; billing and top-ups are handled separately in Viomba ID (id.viomba.com).
2.3 Locally stored settings
Preferences and UI state (such as your selected account or last-used options) are stored locally in your browser using the extension storage API.
2.4 What we do not collect
- We do not run continuous or background collection of the pages you visit.
- We do not capture keystrokes, form inputs, passwords, or cookies.
- We do not build advertising or tracking profiles about you.
3. Browser permissions and why we need them
| Permission | Why AdSpector requests it |
|---|---|
activeTab / tabs | To identify and act on the tab you ask us to analyze. |
scripting | To run the analysis code that reads on-page layout when you trigger it. |
Host access (<all_urls>) | So you can analyze a page on any website you choose. Access is exercised only when you run an analysis on that tab. |
debugger | To emulate a mobile device viewport (the same mechanism as the browser’s built-in device mode) and to capture the emulated screenshot when mobile analysis is enabled. |
storage | To store your sign-in token and preferences locally. |
identity | To sign you in securely through Viomba ID. |
contextMenus | To offer right-click actions for analyzing a page or element. |
sidePanel | To show the AdSpector interface in the browser side panel. |
4. How we use information
- To perform the attention and ad-placement analysis you request and return the results to you.
- To authenticate you and associate analyses and usage with your Viomba account.
- To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations (for example, billing and credit usage).
5. How information is processed and shared
Analysis data is sent to and processed by:
- Viomba backend service (
adspector.viomba.com) — receives the page URL, layout data, screenshot, and analysis options to produce attention predictions, which are stored under your account. - Viomba ID (
id.viomba.com) — handles authentication and account/credit management.
We use Linode (Akamai Technologies) cloud hosting, located in the EU, to operate these services on our behalf, under appropriate data-protection terms. We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
6. Data retention
Analyses and their associated data (including screenshots and layout data) are retained under your account for as long as your account is active, or until you delete them. Locally stored tokens and settings remain in your browser until you sign out or remove the Extension. You can request deletion of your account data as described below.
7. Data security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access is restricted to authenticated requests tied to your account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed in the European Union / European Economic Area (EU/EEA). Where data is transferred across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by applicable law.
9. Your rights and choices
- You can stop all collection at any time by not running analyses, signing out, or removing the Extension.
- Depending on your location (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to certain processing.
- To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@viomba.com.
10. Children
AdSpector is a professional tool intended for business use and is not directed to children. It is intended only for users aged 18 or over, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
11. Chrome Web Store Limited Use disclosure
AdSpector’s use of information received from Google APIs and from the pages you analyze adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use this data solely to provide and improve the analysis features described above. We do not transfer or use it for serving advertisements, for unrelated purposes, or sell it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
